The David Ross Education Trust presents a 60-minute version of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel in partnership with the Royal Ballet & Opera. Directed by Poppy Franziska and conducted by Simon Toyne, 350 students from Ainthorpe Primary School, Edward Heneage Primary Academy, Endike Academy, Fairfield Academy, Hogsthorpe Primary Academy, Quay Academy, The Richmond Primary Academy, Thomas Hinderwell Primary Academy and Wold Academy will join with professional soloists April Koyejo-Audiger and Rhonda Browne and instrumentalists from the Royal Academy of Music to retell this magical interpretation of Humperdinck’s enchanting fairy tale masterpiece.

The opera depicts the famous Grimm fairy tale of two children who venture into the forest to forage for berries and encounter the Sandman, the Dew Fairy, and a Witch who lives in a house made of gingerbread, on their adventure. Full of great tunes, including the famous Evening Prayer and Witch’s Ride, this production is perfect for audiences young and old.
